Idewood fire!

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

There was a 3-alarm fire at my apartment complex early Sunday morning. Affected 16 units. It was on the other side of the complex from mine… I went over to look at the damage - it was pretty bad. No one was hurt, but I felt sorry for the people that lived there and reminded myself to get renters insurance. Scary part was that I slept through it all (yes, 3 firetrucks and also police sirens) and only found out Sunday morning watching the news…

Here’s a piece from the Indianapolis Star if you’re interested.

Happy Deepavali and Selamat Hari Raya to everyone Hopefully everybody will have a great holiday season, full of family, food and fun! - Watch out for crazy drivers on the balik kampung journey! Wish I wasn’t half the world away right now…

Thanks to everyone who sent emails/called/IM-ed. Tommorow, I attempt to cook some real Raya food. Wish me luck!

cat call

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

Had a visitor a couple nights ago - a black cat. How appropriate cause it’s almost Halloween. It looked lost and hungry, so I gave it some leftovers… it ran away with a whole chicken leg/drumstick!

I thought it got loose from someone’s apartment and they found it as I didn’t see it all day yesterday. Beth cooked some dinner tonight and it showed up as we were finishing up. This time, it was friendlier and obviously still hungry. I put out some fish and the rice we had for dinner and it devoured everything. We coaxed it into the apartment, so it would be warm. She came in and fell asleep almost immediately. We’re prolly going to post some "Cat Found" posters or maybe send her to Animal Control/ Humane Society tommorow.

Foo seemed to be okay with the cat hanging out. I’m thinking about putting her in the bathroom tonight, so she won’t hurt herself or destroy my stuff heh heh

Here’s a couple cute-sy pics Beth snapped. I’m tempted to keep the cat, but then I’d have another mouth to feed… and Beth will probably go out and get a matching dog.

We are playing the Meloday Inn again on Nov 26. Yes, it’s Thanksgiving weekend for you Indy/USA folk. Get your fill of turkey, and then come out and rock with us! Other bands TBA. Cover TBA too… heh heh

P.s. The previous blog was deleted by me. I just had to blow off some steam and I won’t bring it up again until it’s settled. Enough said.
