It sucks that my band is out at a gig (don’t worry, it’s not one of ours) and that I am home cause I have a stupid test tommorow…only one month until I graduate! Then, it’s AMPS TO ELEVEN!! Also, The Patio is closing down at the end of the month. It was one of Indy’s best places to catch live local bands and it looks like I will never get up on stage there (one of my life goals gone…SOB!)

What sucks even more is that this is all I have time to write about. Maybe this weekend the muse will hit me (preferably a swift blow to the head). In the meantime, check out Dane Cook - my newest fave comedian. Also, for the sickos out there, the Happy Tree Friends will keep you occupied. I know you’ll love it…you sadistic bastards!!

On the bright side, it snowed a little today. It was only some wimpy flurries but it means  that snowboarding season is just around the corner. Anyway, back to the books (sigh).

Set it off

Audioslave kicks ass. Tom Morello is truly a guitar god. You haven’t heard him until you’ve heard him live…I also got to scream "Fuck You. I won’t do what you tell me!" at the top of my lungs. Best. Concert. Ever. Chris Cornell did four songs by himself with an acoustic - stuff from Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and his solo stuff - he then sang Sleep Now In The Fire and Killing in The Name Of. Zack De La who? I was so close, I could smell Cornell’s breath….

The crowd mostly held up closed fists. Good thing too, cause the Metal Council is currently debating the misuse of devil horns. Read about it here. I need to practice playing so I can reach Morello standards. Later.

I believe you but my tommy gun don’t

I’ve decided that I need to take over the world. Face it, it’s either going to be me or Hillary Duff - you decide.

I’m in the process of upgrading my equipment. Since the band is almost ready to gig, I need some genuine, stage-worthy stuff so I rock out like God intended. Unfortunately, a wall of Marshalls is out of my price range (for now anyway), so I’m gonna settle for a solid state head and cab or a well-priced tube combo. The shortlist includes:

  1. Line 6 Spider 2 head & cab
  2. Hughes & Kettner Matrix
  3. Peavey XXL
  4. Crate Blue Voodoo

Anyone who wants to sell me a Double Rectifier, Peavey 5150 or JCM 2000 stack for less than $900 - I will forever be in your debt (seriously…haha). I think that should be enough of this blog bullshit…I’m off to see Tom Morello and crew kick out the jams. Later.

2000 light years away…

Selamat Hari Raya and Hapy Deepavali to all my family and friends. I apologize to everyone for being hard to reach, or slow in responding to emails/messages and also other indiscretions I have commited. Naz, you better remember to collect my share of duit raya…haha

In Indy, the time has come for colds and overcoats. Not a very "raya"-like atmosphere, especially since there are only three malay students left at IUPUI. We will do our best to celebrate…the open houses of the Malaysian families that are here really warm our bodies with good food and company. No Maggi for this weekend!

The time when one misses home has arrived as well. Talking on the phone just doesn’t cut it anymore. I need the smell of raya…I want the sights, I need its voices in my ear. The one I miss the most, I know you’re there bro. Deepavali was usually one of the best times we shared.

This one’s for you bro:

a beating heart and a microphone,
a ticking clock in an empty home
still tells of these times so long ago,
and even though I’ve come so far, I know
I’ve got so far to go and any day now I’ll explode

each and everyday it leads into tomorrow
and tomorrow brings one less day without you
but don’t wait up just leave the light on
cause all the roads that I might take will all one day lead back to you

Cherish the moments with your family and friends. I’ll try to keep in touch as best I can…Once again, Selamat Hari Raya and Happy Deepavali. Will catch you all later.
